Sounds like Sony is officially recalling all the CD’s it has shipped with the rootkit, before we even got a chance to take action ourselves! They’re also going to have an exchange program for people who already have the infected discs, and it sounds like they’re going to provide a better uninstaller. Meanwhile, Don Kaminsky, a DNS hacker, has found evidence (based on the fact that the CD’s “phone home” to Sony whenever played) that over half a million computers have the Sony Rootkit installed!

PS In related news, the original uninstaller released by Sony, which uses an ActiveX control that is capable of rebooting your computer and installing code, has offically been classified as a security threat by Secunia. See advisory SA17610.
